Scale-Up Connect
The goal of Dagyaw is to give people a chance to experience and learn about Filipino art and traditions firsthand, fostering appreciation for culture, creativity, and community. By sharing these practices with the next generation, the initiative helps ensure that the country’s rich heritage continues to thrive.
At Scale Up Philippines, we believe that a company’s impact goes beyond business—it extends into the communities and culture that shape us. This belief inspired Dagyaw, a cultural initiative designed to celebrate Filipino heritage, creativity, and craftsmanship.
The idea for Dagyaw came after a visit to Buscalan, where we had the extraordinary opportunity to meet the legendary mambabatok, Whang-Od. Inspired by her work and the rich traditions of tattoo-making, we envisioned bringing a similar experience to Bulakan, Bulacan, the founding place of Scale Up Philippines.
Through Dagyaw, we organized a community cultural celebration where participants could experience traditional crafts, learn from the new generation of mambabatok, and connect with Filipino artistry firsthand. From getting traditional tattoos to trying hands-on crafts, the event provided a unique opportunity to celebrate culture, heritage, and collaboration.
Dagyaw is Scale Up Philippines’ cultural initiative aimed at celebrating and preserving Filipino heritage while bringing communities together. Inspired by our visit to Buscalan and meeting the legendary mambabatok Whang-Od, we brought traditional tattoo-making and local crafts to Bulakan, Bulacan, the birthplace of Scale Up.
